HAND-SELECTED AGED WOODS
SELECTED BOARD BY BOARD.
The frame begins long before the workshop. In wood grown over years, often decades. Grain, colour, fissures and tonal shifts are not applied; they are time made visible. Only a small part of the material survives the selection. What remains is chosen board by board, matched to the work, cut and joined by hand. No two profiles can be repeated. The frame does not surround the image as an accessory. It gives it structure, weight and a place in the room.
BOARD BY BOARD
The first decision is not the profile, but the material. Each board is chosen for grain, tone and the presence it will bring to the work.
WRITTEN BY GROWTH
Every line was formed by time, climate and pressure—long before the wood entered the workshop.
NO SECOND PIECE
Natural variation makes repetition impossible. Every profile begins as a singular piece of wood and remains one.
TIME IN THE MATERIAL
Age is not hidden here. It survives in tonal shifts, fissures and the quiet irregularities of the surface.
CHARACTER, NOT DEFECT
Knots, mineral lines and shifts in tone are not imperfections. They are evidence of a material that has lived.
Exquisite material does not need ornament. Its authority lies in proportion, touch and the confidence to remain restrained.
THE ART OF RESTRAINT
The finest frame knows when to be present and when to disappear. Precision gives it that balance.
SELECTED FOR THE WORK
No wood is chosen in isolation. It is matched to the artwork’s colour, atmosphere and scale.
THE CUT REVEALS
The saw does not invent the pattern. It opens the wood and makes its inner structure visible.
PADAUK — COLOUR FROM WITHIN
Its intense red is not a finish, but part of the material itself—revealed by the cut and deepening slowly with light and time.
