ENDLESS There are roads that do not lead somewhere. They open. This was one of those mornings with the wild pack of the R Gruppe — leaving before the day had fully arrived, crossing the Mojave in that half-light where the world still feels unfinished. Then the road rises, the horizon breaks open, and suddenly the landscape is no longer a place in front of you. It becomes a force. A straight line cuts through the desert, almost too simple to be real. Clouds gather above it like a second terrain. Light falls in distant curtains. The land stretches out until distance stops being measurable and becomes something physical. You are not looking at a road anymore. You are standing inside scale. In small format, this image is a memory of movement. In monumental scale, it changes its nature. The details begin to surface: the long pull of asphalt, the rough desert skin, the Joshua trees, the weather, the tiny signs of a world too vast to be owned. At that size, the picture no longer behaves like a photograph. It becomes a field. ENDLESS carries the feeling of a road trip at the edge of belief. Dann steigt die Straße an. Der Horizont bricht auf. Und plötzlich ist die Landschaft nicht mehr ein Ort vor dir.
Sie wird zu einer Kraft.
Eine gerade Linie schneidet durch die Wüste, fast zu einfach, um wahr zu sein. Darüber sammeln sich Wolken wie ein zweites Gelände. Licht fällt in fernen Vorhängen. Das Land dehnt sich aus, bis Entfernung nicht mehr messbar ist, sondern körperlich wird.
Man schaut nicht mehr auf eine Straße.
Man steht in einem Maßstab.
Im kleinen Format ist ENDLESS eine Erinnerung an Bewegung. Im monumentalen Format verändert das Bild seine Natur. Die Details tauchen auf: der lange Zug des Asphalts, die raue Haut der Wüste, Joshua Trees, Wetter, kleine Zeichen einer Welt, die zu groß ist, um jemandem zu gehören.
In dieser Größe verhält sich das Bild nicht mehr wie eine Fotografie.
Es wird zu einem Feld.
