The Dark Thing With Wings Sometimes the darkness does not rise from within. Sometimes it simply flies through the image. The black bird hangs above the California coast like a thought that has become too large. Close, blurred, almost bodiless — and yet heavy enough to tilt the entire morning. Behind it: houses, palms, ocean, fog, a pale day that could begin. But this shadow arrives first. It is no longer an animal. It is a sign. The black dog people speak of when they have no better name for the weight inside them — only here, it has wings. It never lands. It remains in motion, as if it belonged to us without ever becoming fully graspable. BLACKBIRD MORNING is an image about the dark sides every human being carries. About what haunts us without making a sound. About a morning that might have been beautiful, if not for this one shadow that makes it true. It is not the coast that carries the image. It is what passes over it.

Der schwarze Vogel hängt vor der kalifornischen Küste wie ein Gedanke, der zu groß geworden ist. Nah, unscharf, fast körperlos — und doch schwer genug, um den ganzen Morgen zu kippen. Hinter ihm liegen Häuser, Palmen, Meer, Nebel, ein heller Tag, der beginnen könnte. Aber dieser Schatten ist schneller.
Er ist kein Tier mehr. Er ist ein Zeichen. Der schwarze Hund, von dem Menschen sprechen, wenn sie das Schwere in sich nicht anders benennen können — nur dass er hier Flügel hat. Er landet nicht. Er bleibt in Bewegung, als würde er zu uns gehören, ohne je ganz greifbar zu werden.
BLACKBIRD MORNING ist ein Bild über die dunklen Seiten, die zu jedem Menschen gehören. Über das, was uns heimsucht, ohne laut zu werden. Über einen Morgen, der schön sein könnte, wäre da nicht dieser eine Schatten, der ihn wahr macht.
Nicht die Küste trägt das Bild. Sondern das, was über ihr liegt.
