THE OBJECT

FROM PHOTOGRAPH TO OBJECT.

The photograph was the beginning. Then things become pleasantly complicated. Paper gives it substance. The frame gives it structure. Glass protects without intruding. Scale decides how it enters the room. None of these elements is added afterwards. They are composed together from the beginning. In the workshop, the board we selected ourselves becomes the frame: cut, planed, profiled and joined by hand. In our atelier, the complete work comes together: mounted, inspected, signed and numbered. Only when there is nothing left to add is the work allowed to leave.
