GREEN CAVIAR
The Sturgeon Kindergarten
At first, it is only green.
Then you realise there is quite a lot going on.
Beneath the surface, the young sturgeons trace their paths. Small silver bodies, close together, crossing in every direction, each apparently following a plan of its own.
The sturgeon nursery.
No large, heavy fish yet. No caviar. No luxury, no ritual, not a champagne glass in sight.
Just the next generation.
Water, algae, light, shadow — and this surprisingly lively little world in which movement is slowly becoming future.
You could almost believe there is order down here.
Almost.
GREEN CAVIAR shows the beginning of a story whose ending we know rather better.
Before the sturgeon becomes a symbol of preciousness, it is first of all:
small.
hungry.
and in kindergarten with its siblings.
