CAR WASH PALM SPRINGS
CAR WASH PALM SPRINGS
You Hardly Need Any More America in the Frame.
A photograph that begins like a film.
Palm Springs. Desert light. Mountains on the horizon. A 24-hour car wash. A 911 Targa out front.
You hardly need any more America in the frame.
The scene could belong to a road movie whose title you forgot years ago but whose images somehow stayed.
The fifties. The sixties. Or perhaps just the memory of them.
A roadside sign. A Porsche passing through. The desert waiting just beyond town.
You expect a diner around the corner, a jukebox, a gas station and somebody mentioning that Las Vegas is still a few hours away.
Maybe the Targa will move on.
Of course it will.
CAR WASH PALM SPRINGS is Americana at its best:
a little cinema,
a little wanderlust,
and a road continuing somewhere beyond the frame.
