CUCCI TOWER
When Buildings wear paillettes
GOLD CAN BE QUIET.
THIS BUILDING DECLINED.
In the middle of Singapore stands a honeycomb tower that looks less built than dressed.
Golden cells stack above one another, catching light, returning it, turning a high-rise façade into something suspiciously close to haute couture.
A fashion house scaled up to architecture.
The name CUCCI TOWER is not exactly helping with modesty.
Good.
The façade stages itself: polished, precise and entirely convinced of its own entrance. Every cell a small display window. The whole tower a very large one.
But gold has never been just a colour.
It means value. Possession. Desire. And, rather reliably, the question of who remains outside.
That is where the image becomes interesting.
Behind the radiance sits the other city. The one standing in a different light.
CUCCI TOWER is seduction with side effects.
You look because it is beautiful.
You stay because it is complicated.
