DEAD PONEY

THE PONY IS DEAD.

APPARENTLY NOBODY TOLD THE MUSTANG.

The rear is sunburned, the chrome tired, the letters no longer quite complete. California has spent years taking the shine off.

Good.

What remains is better: dust, scars, faded paint and the kind of surface no restoration shop can reproduce on purpose.

You can almost see the miles in it. Motels. Heat. Long roads. Bad parking. Better nights.

DEAD PONEY did not live badly.

It just did not miss much.
