This truck started early. Up before everyone else in the morning, cold hands on the wheel, warm sun on the face. It carried timber, paint, parcels, hopes. It saw construction sites, new homes, old neighbourhoods. It knows the smell of sawdust, asphalt after rain, fresh coffee from the diner on the corner. Back then, it was fast. A little reckless, maybe. Today, it has grown quieter. More at ease. It knows where it belongs. Every dent speaks of a long day. Every line of a road that was taken. It has seen generations come and go, streets change their names, stores disappear, and a few remain. Milky Way Express is a homage to the silent companions of life. To things that simply work, that stay, that carry. An image about labour without pathos, about dignity in the everyday — and about growing older without losing the small, stubborn light that once made everything begin.
Morgens vor allen anderen aufgestanden, kalte Hände am Lenkrad, warme Sonne im Gesicht. Er hat Holz geliefert, Farbe, Pakete, Hoffnungen. Hat Baustellen gesehen, neue Häuser, alte Viertel. Er kennt den Geruch von Sägemehl, Asphalt nach Regen, frischem Kaffee aus dem Diner an der Ecke.
Früher war er schnell, ein bisschen übermütig. Heute ist er ruhiger geworden. Gelassen.
Er weiß, wo er hingehört.
Jede Delle erzählt von einem langen Tag, jede Linie von einem Weg, der gegangen wurde. Er hat Generationen kommen und gehen sehen, Straßen, die sich verändert haben, Läden, die geblieben sind.
Milky Way Express ist eine Hommage an diese stillen Begleiter des Lebens. An Dinge, die einfach funktionieren, die da sind, die tragen. Ein Bild über Arbeit ohne Pathos, über Würde im Alltäglichen – und über das Erwachsenwerden, ohne den Kern zu verlieren.
