The facade still carries colour, but no expectation. The letters above the roof stand like signs from another era: large, naive, almost defiant. America as a motel row. As dust. As sun on plywood. As a dream that eventually became nothing more than a number on a door.

Not road-trip romance. More like the moment after.

When summer is over. When no one asks if there is still a room available.
