After the Summer Left Cape Cod, off-season. The house is not abandoned. It is closed like a sentence that no longer continues. The windows boarded, the shutters still carrying that pale vacation blue, the ocean behind it — too close, too vast, too indifferent. Summer has left. With it the voices, towels, chairs, children, glasses, cars in the sand. The people have returned to their city apartments. What remains is wood, salt, light and wind. Here, Cape Cod becomes Hopper without a figure. No scene. No story. Only a house at the edge of the elements, frontal, silent, almost too clear. When people leave, the coast belongs to itself again.

Das Haus ist nicht verlassen. Es ist geschlossen wie ein Satz, der nicht mehr weitergesprochen wird. Die Fenster vernagelt, die Läden noch in diesem hellen Ferienblau, dahinter das Meer — zu nah, zu groß, zu gleichgültig.
Der Sommer ist abgereist. Mit ihm die Stimmen, Handtücher, Stühle, Kinder, Gläser, Autos im Sand. Die Menschen sind zurück in ihren Stadtwohnungen. Geblieben sind Holz, Salz, Licht und Wind.
Hier wird Cape Cod zu Hopper ohne Figur. Keine Szene. Keine Geschichte. Nur ein Haus am Rand der Elemente, frontal, schweigsam, fast zu klar.
Wenn der Mensch geht, gehört die Küste wieder sich selbst.
