When Water Gets Louder
Water can be remarkably quiet.
Apparently not here.
The koi begin to gather. Red flares, gold thickens, dark bodies cut through the blue. One movement pulls the next along, every curve pushing a little more energy into the frame.
Fuller.
Faster.
Louder, although there is no sound.
The koi, in any case, have decided against restraint.
Good.
That is what a crescendo really is: not the explosion, but the build-up. That wonderful moment just before, when everything already knows what is about to happen.
The image begins to pulse.
Almost like breathing.
Only considerably more colourful.
UNDERWATER FIREWORKS — CRESCENDO holds the instant when movement has not yet exploded, but can no longer be persuaded to stay still.
Everything is still together.
